Re: Purple LEDs?

Hi Eric,

It looks like something is messed up with the configuration of the charger.

Have you got the charger manager software installed? If you have, you can click on File->Edit Configuration and then "Save to Charger" and that should reset you back to the defaults.

Re: Switch and cleaning

Unfortunately, I don't know the model of that switch - sorry. You could either try contacting Paul directly, or have a look on an electronics component web site such as: http://www.element14.com The battery contacts shouldn't be oxidizing unless you have managed to where through the chrome layer. So...

Re: top off charge

I'm not 100% certain that is possible with the current firmware, but you could enable the option "NiMH Top Off On Last Charge" - It might only work when top off is enabled on all cycles for the current mode though...

Re: Manager Software

I've just uploaded a minor update - this removes an error message if a charger is disconnected whilst the software is running. There is also a minor change so that channels that have completed either charging or discharging are not selected by default when you click the start button. Download link i...

Re: charging time off?

Hi Peter, The total charging time is the amount of time spent actually putting charge into the cell - in normal charging mode, the charger alternates between the channels - it also has short pauses where it measures the cell voltage with no current flowing, so it's normal for the charging time to sh...

Re: higher charge/discharge current via external

2A is pretty much at the limit for both charging and discharging.

You might be able to push it to 2.5A by modifying the firmware, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Re: Temperature reading off - calibration possible?

OK, I've just uploaded a modified version of the firmware to fix this - you can download it from here: http://www.ultrasmartcharger.com/TemperatureFix.zip To use this version, you need to unzip the above file, start a command prompt and run the doflash batch file, passing the COM port to it - e.g. d...

Re: Temperature reading off - calibration possible?

Peter and Martin,

Can you provide the serial numbers from all of your chargers please? It sounds like you have each received a pair of chargers that weren't made at the same time...

Re: Temperature reading off - calibration possible?

Sorry I didn't get a chance to work on this yet again. I did talk to Paul via email and he thinks that it's possible that some different temperature sensors might have slipped in on some chargers - I've asked him to check the self test logs to try to work out the range of serial numbers affected so ...
