I've just uploaded Version 0.518:

  • Fixed problem with doing discharges on old boards without current sense resistors.
  • Added code to dynamically set temperature limit to the lower of either 50 degrees Celsius or 20 degrees higher than the starting temperature.

I've just uploaded Version 0.520:

  • Changed Wait to charge LED sequence to long off, brief red flash.
  • Changed top off LED sequence to medium green, brief red flash.
  • Fixed a problem that could cause oscillating charge rate when charging NiZn cells.
  • Added separate settings for NiZn charging: Max Capacity (Default: 1700 maH) Max Temperature (40 degrees C) Max Temperature Rise (15 degrees C)

I've just uploaded Version 0.522:

  • If a cell fails the Internal Resistance Check, you can now bypass the check by just pressing the button again in any mode.
  • Added option to do top off charge on last charge - default is now off.
  • Improved synchronization between channels.
  • Will now detect cell removal during pause between charging.
  • Changed waiting to charge to medium blue flash.
  • Added Compilation Date & Time to output header.

I've just uploaded Version 0.524:

  • Added initial support for LCD charger.
  • Dropped support for older non LCD chargers (older than revision 6)
  • Added routine for doing extended cycle testing - with configurable number of cycles and optional top up/slow discharge at end.
  • Modified code to prevent a rare panic when SD writing is too slow.
  • Added separate delay value for rest after charge and rest after discharge. Rest after charge is now 60 minutes. Rest after discharge remains 30 minutes.
  • Improved handling of high resistance cells - charge current will often be higher now and will increase if internal resistance decreases.
  • Changed order of results line to show time at the end.
  • Cell voltage will now be logged as soon as it's inserted.
  • Added ability to adjust charging time between pauses.
  • Added ability to regularly pause discharging to calculate IR.
  • IR is now logged on an ongoing basis.
  • Other minor changes and improvements.

The source code is looking pretty ugly at the moment due to the work that I've been doing on the LCD charger, so I'm holding off on releasing that until I get a chance to clean it up a bit. In the mean time, you can use the easy firmware updater which I've updated with this version:

If you're using the configuration utility, I strongly recommend that you update to the latest version, open and then save any configuration files that you're using - otherwise you're likely to run into problems:

I've just uploaded Version 0.900:

  • Numerous improvements for LCD charger
  • Modified code to reject spurious ADC Voltage readings.
  • Added ability to set auto charge delay.
  • Increased frequency AND resolution for both charging and discharging on non LCD charger (approx 16 bit at 31kHz)
  • Added Packet mode interface.
  • Restored support for SD cards 4GB and greater on the V1 (non LCD) charger!
  • Numerous minor Bug Fixes.

This will hopefully be the last update need before I release V1.00 of the firmware - this should be considered to be pretty much a final beta version.

I've updated the easy firmware updater so that it supports both V1 (non LCD) and V2 (LCD) chargers:

If you're using configuration files, you MUST upgrade to the latest version of the USC Manager software and load/save each of your configuration files - these configuration files will then no longer be compatible with older firmware versions:
