FTDI pinout

Postby frankty » Thu Dec 10, 2015 11:58 pm

Hi I just picked up an FTDI Friend. My board has the 2x3 array and not the header. Can someone please post the pinouts so I can solder up the FDTI?

Thanks!
Frank

Hi Frank,

I could be on completely the wrong track here... but I think the 2x3 header is the ISCP programmer header, not for the FTDI. If your charger looks like the one from post linked below at [1], then it already has an onboard FTDI chip, and you just need to plug it into the computer to access the charger's USB-to-Serial interface. Otherwise, does it look like any of the ones shown at the second link below?

Peter

The second link. I tried to use the "easy upgrade" on an x86 win7 laptop and it did not work. It saw the com port, but after thinking a while it gave me an error

There are pictures of both old and new chargers on the second link.

Does your charger take a standard size, or a micro size SD card?

In that case, you have the latest version of the charger - you don't need a separate FTDI board as the charger has an FTDI chip on it already.

You can also use micro SD cards of up to 32GB.

Ohhhkaaayyy …

Normally I use a MAC, but I have this old x86 (32 bit) Acer laptop running win7. It "sees" the com port but I've had no luck at all using the upgrade package. I have plenty of various sized micro sd cards. Can I just dump the proper files on one? I can't get off the ground here. I have SD from 2gb to 128gb … does it *need* a fat32 at this point? Sorry I haven't kept up with the millions of threads here - I assumed it would plug in and just work at this maturity level.

You don't need to upgrade the firmware - the firmware that is installed will already be the latest version.

The charger should handle any SD card that is formatted as either FAT16 or FAT32 - i.e. up to 32GB in size.

Have you tried connecting to it with the charger manager software? You can download it from here:
