I think it would be useful if we had an ambient temperature sensor so that we could compare the cell temperature to the ambient temperature to decide whether the cell is getting too hot.
I just had a test charge terminate because the cell reached the current temperature limit of 35 degrees Celsius. The current room temperature is nearly 31 degrees, so that cell temperature hadn't actually risen that much above ambient.
I could increase the temperature limit to something like 40 degrees, but if the charger was operating in a cold environment, it may never hit the limit even when the cell is being overcharged at a high rate.
